Updated: Jan 10, 2019

Ace Berry Rose, Ace Joker, 2 Towns Brightcider, 2 Towns Made Marion, Gowans Heirloom Gravenstein, Gowans Macintosh

1. Ace Berry Rose ( 4.3 / 5.0 )

This is the first and my favorite cider that I tasted in the Cider Fest. Ace cider started making its cider in 1993 at the heart of wine making county, Sonoma County. They are committed to produce best pure and natural ciders. The Ace Berry Rose is a mix of strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry blended into a fermented apple cider.

"It is berry-refreshing and natural! I found a new favorite. I can taste the fruity berry mix right away. It was medium sweet with no bitterness. Medium to light carbonation. Rose in color. Soo delicious. It worth a 4.3 out of 5.0."

2. Ace Joker Dry Apple ( 3.4 / 5.0 )

At the same booth, I got the Ace's Joker Dry Hard Cider.

"This one will be good for a dry cider lover. It is semi-dry in flavor with light yellow color. No bitterness or tannins and very light. It has a soft champagne palate with apple fruity aroma. I'd give it 3.4 out of 5.0."

3. 2 Towns Brightcider ( 3.8 / 5.0 )

From the Northwest apple in the Oregon, 2 Towns is bringing a bold and unique cider to all cider lovers. The Newton Pippin apple juice processed using the slow fermentation method to preserve the Newton Pippin apple flavor in 2 Towns' Brightcider. It is all crafted naturally like how they produce their other ciders.

"It is a light bodied sugary cider, medium sweetness, light to transparent cider liquid. Very simple and sweet. It has a medium apple fruity flavor with a light acidity and bitterness finish. My second favorite in this cider festival. It is a 3.8 out of 5.0."

4. 2 Towns Made Marion Blackberry ( 3.5 / 5.0 )

The second flavor that I picked at the 2 Towns booth is the Made Marion Blackberry. It is a blend of Oregon grown Marionberries and hard apple cider.

"It is amber - dark purple transparent in color. Upon first sip, I tasted a strong flavor of berry - cherry and a hint of tartness and tannins. Smells sweet fruity but is surprisingly semi-dry. A really good dry berry cider. I think it is a 3.5 out of 5.0."

5. Gowans Heirloom Gravenstein ( 3.8 / 5.0 )

The third cider maker I choose for tasting in the Cider Fest is Gowans. The winer for the gold medal at the 2015 California Cider Competition,Gowans, started in 1880 as an apple farm and apple cider maker in the Anderson Valley in Mendocino county California. They are crafting their ciders wine-style with blend of more than 83 select varieties of apple.

"The pinkish - yellow liquid is semi sweet and has a wine characteristic to it. I could taste strong apple, a hint vanilla, and floral flavor in it. Clean apple flavor but has a funk taste in it, maybe from the barrel processing. It is a 3.8 out of 5.0."

6. Gowans Machintost Heirloom ( 3.5 / 5.0 )

Another Gowans' product the Machintost Heirloom is the dry cider version by Gowans. They call it the apple champagne.

"It is yellow transparent in color, an apple champagne. I could taste strong apple with floral hint, along with pineapple and citrus note. It is a dry apple cider and has a little funk in it, maybe from the barrel or wine style cider making process. It is a 3.5 out of 5.0."
