A Plum Jerkum
What is a Jerkum? Like a cider is made from apples and perry is made from pears. Jerkum is an ancient fermentation method from England that turns stone fruits into alcoholic beverages.
Mission Trail cidery is an expert in perry, cider, and jerkum making in the land of Mission Trail , Sonoma County. This week I am exploring their one and only Plum Jerkum made from fermented 14 different varieties of plums.
"The fuchsia color of the jerkum is very beautiful. The jerkum tastes very clean and different from most perry and ciders, almost like a plum vodca without the weird vodca punk & bitterness in it. Started with hint of plum tartness and sourness. Interesting taste, but not my favorite. I'd say it is 3.4 out of 5.0."
