A Classic Off-beat Cinema

This is not your typical modern type AMC movie theater. The Alamo Drafthouse is a classic off-beat cinema chain in the United States. It is called the "#1 theater in America" by Entertainment Weekly and "coolest movie theater in the world" by Wired. The vintage cinema is a jewel of Mission district in San Francisco.

Classic Movie Rental

The green light Mission sign between the 21st and 22nd Mission will lead you to the the grand entrance of the cinema. In the entrance of this medium size classic theater, you can find an old classic movie of your favorite to rent. You can also walk through the wooden rack of DVDs to sort their movie options. The classic movie posters displayed on the wall add a vintage feeling to the cinema.

Cabaret Style Seats in a Small-Medium Theater with Servers Serving Food

I went there a couple of weeks ago to watch Lady Gaga's movie A Start is Born. Entering the individual theater, I can see three rows of cabaret style seats arranged in pair with a little table in the middle. They do not have a reclining chair, but I like it since it keeps me awake through out the movie. The studio is small enough to allow good spacing between the seats, so you will never be too close to the screen. "How to Order" video started before the movie to show us how to order foods and drinks inside the studio. Following the provided directions, I ordered a glass of beer by writing down my order in a white piece of paper and slipping it standing in a section on the table along with my credit card. Not too long after that, a server came by to take the order paper. The room is filled with popcorn, pizza, and chicken wings smell as other people ordered food as they are watching the movie. We ate dinner while watching the movie, having a good time.

Classic Arcade Games & Pinball

As the movie ended, I walked outside of the studio to find a bathroom. The movie was on the second floor. So I walked to the second floor's bathroom passing classic arcade game and pinball machines. Maybe it is there to use while waiting for friends in the bathroom.

Bear VS Bull Bar

In the first floor on my way to the exit, I passed the VS bar with a bear and a bull statue. Some people were walking into this bar after the movie to have beer and cocktails, but there are also people who dropped right away into the bar to enjoy the night.

Check out their signature series like the Music Monday, Terror Tuesday, and Weird Wednesday. You may find a classic interesting movie that you would like.
