CiderElla at Dandelion Chocolate

Updated: Oct 14, 2018

My new favorite hangout is a chocolate store on Valencia street

Valencia street is one of the hippest streets in San Francisco. I was walking on the street today passing the famous Craftsman and Wolves bakery, known for its The Rebel Within a savory muffin served with a poached egg on the inside, and saw the Dandelion Chocolate store sign. There was no line as it usually would be. I have been wanting to try their chocolate desserts, so I walked into the store.

Dandelion Chocolate is a San Francisco local chocolate maker based in the Mission District. The have two stores in San Francisco. The one in Ferry Building Embarcadero only serves the chocolate products, but the other one in Valencia street is a combination of a chocolate factory and chocolate bakery bar. Their store reminds me of Max Brenner and Serendipity, but they are exclusive for chocolate products.

What is interesting about this San Francisco spirited chocolate manufacturer is that they make a small-batch, bean-to-bar chocolate. With the same consistency in their chocolate to sugar proportion for their chocolate bar, 70% to 30%, they are serving a high quality chocolate bar that emphasizes on the quality the chocolate bean. They believe that chocolates are like wines. The finished product quality depends heavily on the quality of cacao instead of the additional ingredients added in many other brands. They sourced quality cacao beans from more than 10 countries including Belize, Madagascar, India, and Guatemala.

Dandelion Chocolate store is the "Starbucks" of chocolate stores. When you come into the shop you can smell chocolate in the room, delicious. You can see the cashier alongside the installation of chocolate sweets, list of chocolate drinks, and Dandelion's chocolate bars. Once you order, there are tables and a bar sitting area that are overlooking into their factory a.k.a. kitchen area where the productions are done. The store has a clean hip feeling into it. it is a nice study, work, or chat place.

"In the store, I ordered their frozen hot chocolate, panna cotta, cappuccino, and paris-brest choux. Very good! They do has a very unique chocolate flavor from the uniquely curated chocolate bean."

I hope you enjoy it too!
