Bay Area Hiking with CiderElla

The nice thing about living in the Bay Area is that there are many beautiful coastal areas just one or two hours drive away from the city that you can visit. Last weekend, my boyfriend and I visited Rodeo Beach for an afternoon hike. It is about 15 minutes north-west from the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito. The hike gave us a really good view of the northern side of San Francisco. I love it!

Rodeo beach was created from a higher sandy land that prevent the sea water to gets into the lake behind it. There were some ex-military fort remains from the World War II, protecting US against the Japanese attack.

We parked in front of Rodeo beach and start walking through the Coastal trail. The Coastal trail is a moderate to difficult trail to complete. The asphalted road can easily take you up to the hill, but there are some off the grid trails that you can take closer to the coastline and Tennesse Point, which made the hike more interesting. We hiked up along the Coastal trail, up to the Battery Townsley, and Hill 8.

"The hike up hill 8 was tough, but very rewarding. At hill 88 you can see the view of the bay coast from Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco to the end of the sea. It was surreal."

We did a total of 5.75 miles hike with elevation of 1200 ft. We were super tired by the end of the hike, so we drove up to Sausalito to get an Italian dinner. Entering Sausalito, we could se a little old town by the water over looking the Golden Gate Bridge. We stopped by Peggio, a fancy Italian restaurant, and I ordered pizza as usual. A good meal after a workout is the best.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend too. See you in the next post.
